Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed was the chief guest at the 77th convocation of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, here on Friday held at CIIT Attock campus. A total of 223 graduating students were awarded degrees belonging to the Departments of Management Sciences, Electrical engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics.
Rector CIIT Dr S M Junaid Zaidi (Sitra-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-Imtiaz), Pro-Rector Dr Haroon Rashid (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), Academic Council members, Directors of other campuses of CIIT, former directors of CIIT Attock Campus, officers from the district administration and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra, media persons, representatives of regional banks and industry, faculty, parents and graduating students were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the convocation, Minister of State said that the way CIIT Attock has contributed to educational uplift of the area since its establishment (11 years ago) with the spirit of national service putting untiring efforts is praiseworthy. He said new campus of COMSATS is a testament to the commitment of CIIT to ensure the highest standard of excellence without any compromise.
At the time of its inception, CIIT had limited resources and building, but now I see it extended at an area of about 350 kanal with two large academic blocks and another one under construction, he added. Sheikh Aftab said on the occasion that the establishment of CIIT in Attock gave a boost to the employment ratio in the region. He said, "It is important to acknowledge the indigenous talent of Attock and adjoining areas. I would specially mention the efforts of CIIT in promoting higher education for women in the region.
