Being flat and light, the Pebble Time Round from Californian company Pebble looks more like a classic watch than its smart-watch peers. Unfortunately, the company's newest offering comes up a bit short in the battery life department.
The watch will begin selling for 249 dollars in the United States in November. It is 7.5 millimetres wide and weighs 28 grams. Like other smart-watches, it supports a variety of functions, such as checking weather reports, scheduling events and keeping up on the news.
However, whereas the precursor models' battery kept it running for five to 10 days, this new version only packs enough battery power for two.
The company says that's made up for by the fact that it should only have to charge for 15 minutes to provide enough power for a whole day, an improvement over past models.
The new Pebble continues to use e-paper technology, which means that the display can be read in a variety of lighting situations. It is compatible with all Android and iOS devices, but not Windows phones.
Also, unlike some previous models, this release was not supported by crowd-funding. The company has become known for such ventures, with three of its five released devices so far funded via Kickstarter.
