Scarlett Johansson beats Angelina Jolie to become highest paid actress of 2018

Forbes has released the list of highest paid female celebrities of 2018. The top 10 celebrities pulled in a combined earning of $186 million (£146.5m).

Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson is at the top of the list with $40.5 million in pretax earnings, while Angelina Jolie edges second with $28 million. Jennifer Aniston got the third place on the list with 19.5 million.

Playing Black Widow in Marvel's Avengers movies has become a lucrative role for Johansson, and probably became the reason to earn the top spot on the list. She'll return onscreen for the fourth installment of the superhero series in 2019.

Last year, Emma stone from ‘La La Land’ was the highest paid actress of 2017 with $26m (£20m).
