Allied Bank Limited (ABL) has donated one million rupees to the Government College University Lahore Endowment Fund Trust to start a golden scholarship for the university's financially challenged students. ABL Chief Commercial Banking Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti handed over the donation cheque to GCU Vice Chancellor Professor Doctor Hassan Amir Shah during a ceremony at VC office, here on Thursday.
While addressing the ceremony, Trust Executive Committee Secretary Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt said the ABL Golden Scholarship would be a perpetual scholarship to be given to a financially challenged student every year. This was the third golden scholarship launched by the bank for the university's students. GCU VC thanked the bank management for their donation, saying leading banks in Pakistan had a realisation towards their corporate social responsibility and hoped with the support of leading corporate organisations, philanthropists and alumni. ABL Chief Commercial Banking Bhatti said that bank would initiate scholarships for the students every year. ABL Regional Head Munir Ahmed Attique was also present.
