Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here Friday which reviewed security arrangements for the protection of life and property of the people on Youm-e-Ashur. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister directed that the security plan for Youm-e-Ashur should be strictly implemented.
He said that Pakistan is passing through a critical phase and the enemy is bent upon damaging the country. He said collective efforts should be made with the force of unity to foil the nefarious designs of the enemy. He said that every citizen of the society will have to play his positive role for promoting religious harmony, brotherhood and a peaceful atmosphere.
The Chief Minister said that even better security arrangements have been made this year for the protection of life and property of citizens on Youm-e-Ashur than the previous years. He directed that law-enforcement agencies should utilise all their energies for ensuring peace and tranquillity.
He further directed that the security plan for Majalis and religious processions should be fully implemented and no efforts be spared for maintaining law and order. Shahbaz Sharif said that alternative arrangements for communication between law-enforcement agencies and administration are essential and the concerned institutions should maintain a close contact. He said that senior police and administrative officers should accompany mourning processions and monitor security arrangements. He said that arrangements should also be made for food and tea for police officials on duty. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah, Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool, Inspector General Police and officers concerned were present.
