Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan said that human casualties and other losses from devastated earthquake is the worst tragedy and the whole nation was standing by the bereaved families to share their grief. Talking to media after inquiring the health of those injured in earthquake in Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), he said that on the directives of the Prime Minister, federal government will extend all possible cooperation to provincial government and its agencies in relief activities and wherever need arises joint resources will be utilized.
He said that in whole FATA and particularly in all hospitals of Bajaur Agency, emergency has been declared and vacations of all doctors and paramedical staff have been cancelled. He said that directives have already been issued for the dispatching of all mobile health units and ambulances to the affected areas. He said that directives for guaranteeing the provision of medicines and other requirements have also been issued.
The Governor said that Director General (DG) FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) has been directed for making contacts with the political administration of all tribal agencies to provide tents and other essentials to affected areas.
He said that in FATA, Bajaur Agency is the most affected area from where dozens of casualties and injuring of people have been reported. He said that loss assessment is being made besides putting the administration of FATA on alert, conducting of the survey of losses and provision of information. The governor said that earthquake has also affected communication system, saying reports from far-flung areas area being collected. He prayed for minimum losses, particularly for less or no human losses. He expressed good wishes for early recovery of injured and pray for eternal peace of deceased and courage for the heirs to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude. Earlier, he also reviewed facilities provided to injured in hospital and directed the hospital administration for provision of all possible treatment facilities for the injured and their emergency based treatment.
