The House Officers of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Monday staged a protest demonstration against non-payment of their salaries. Some 200 house officers joined the protest outside the emergency ward of JPMC, demanding immediate release of their salaries. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Fatriha Tariq said that doctors had been unpaid for the last five months that caused sever financial constraints for them.
She warned the government that if their salaries were not released immediately doctors would boycott OPDs and OTs. "We do not want to go on strike. But if we do not get our salaries up to September within two weeks then we would have no option but to go for strike," she said. She further said that the government had been continuously ignoring their issues and sending negative message to doctors.
