Police on Thursday claimed to have killed three suspected terrorists and arrested 22 others in separate raids conducted in different areas of the metropolis. According to police sources, three alleged terrorists were killed in an encounter in the jurisdictions of Mominabad police station on late Wednesday night.
Police said that the raid was conducted on a tip-off about the presence of accused in the locality. The terrorists, on seeing law enforcers opened fire. However, in the retaliatory firing, three terrorists were killed on the spot while one of their accomplices managed to flee from the scene. The slain 'terrorists' were identified as Sher Dil, Rahil and Umair. They were allegedly involved in target killings, robberies and extortion activities.
Police said that huge quantity of arms, ammunitions and explosive material were recovered from their custody. Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Mushtaq Maher and Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali appreciated the efforts of police while the Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal has announced cash reward for the police team which took part in the encounter.
Counter Terrorism Department of police arrested two target killers associated with 'Kalo Currant' group of a political party. The arrests were made from Malir's Saudabad area. The accused were involved in murder, kidnapping and extortion cases. Meanwhile, during search operation in Jahangir Road area, police arrested at least 20 suspects, besides recovering one pistol and snatching motorbike from the possession of the arrested suspects. Sources said that police also arrested a target killer from Eidgah area. The arrested accused was allegedly involved in killings of four people. Two accomplices of the accused managed to flee from the scene.
