Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif undertook an eight-hour visit of district Rahimyar Khan on Monday. He inaugurated a road at nearby village of Rahim Yar Khan constructed under "Pakian Sarkan-Sokhay Painday" and laid foundation stone of construction and rehabilitation of the road under second phase.
He also inspected newly constructed roads and laid foundation stone of clean drinking water project at Chak No 63 Khanpur and paid surprise visit to Government High School, Rahimabad Tehsil Sadiqabad. He also inspected Khwaja Fareed Engineering and Information Technology University and directed the administration to complete the construction work at the earliest.
He addressed public gatherings at the residence of Makhdoom Khusru Bakhtiar MNA at Mianwali Qureshian and Rahimabad, Sadiqabad. He said besides rural road programme and Saaf Pani Project work is also in progress on energy projects. A huge amount of Rs 50 billion has been allocated in the current fiscal year for Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme while Rs 15 billion has been allocated for Saaf Pani Project.
The Chief Minister further said that Punjab government was spending billions of rupees on the promotion of education. The target of provision of educational scholarships to one hundred thousand poor but talented students under Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has been achieved and in future, two hundred thousand such students will be given scholarships under this programme for which a further amount of Rs 4 billion have been provided.
Referring to the efforts being made for resolving energy crisis, the CM said that 7000 megawatts electricity would be generated by the power projects to be set up during next two years with the co-operation of China. Implementation of energy projects will reduce load-shedding, industrial and agriculture sectors will develop while job opportunities would also be created. The federal and Punjab governments are working together expeditiously on 3600 megawatts gas based power projects and due to production of thousand of megawatts of electricity by 2017 load-shedding will substantially decrease.
Addressing a public meeting at Rahimabad, Sadiqabad the Chief Minister said it is his promise that Saaf Pani will be available to the people and he will continue to come here till drinking water reaches every house of the area.
Addressing Assembly Members and people of the area in Rahim Yar Khan, the Chief Minister said the masses have given vote in favour of honesty, hard work and transparency in local bodies' elections and rejected the elements creating hurdles in development process of the country.
He said that sit-ins wasted time of those working for the development of the country; people have rejected the politics of lies, allegations and sit-ins. People have given a message in the first phase of local bodies' election in Punjab that they had complete confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and defeated those staging sit-ins. He said that historic victory was achieved in local bodies' elections due to love of the people and round the clock hard work of PML-N leaders and office-bearers. He expressed his belief that people will also give the same respect in general elections of 2018. The Chief Minister said that China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran are best friends of Pakistan and with the cooperation of these friendly countries, Pakistan will be steered out of all problems including energy crisis. China has given a great gift of 46 billion dollars investment package to Pakistan which 180 million people of the country can never forget.
He disclosed that 28 plants of Saaf Pani will be set up in Tehsil Khanpur which will cost 280 million rupees. He said the concerned companies will run clean drinking water projects during first three years and, later on, these projects will be handed over to the local youth.
Shahbaz Sharif also went to the residence of Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar MNA at Mianwali Qureshian, and expressed condolence over the death of his father. He paid rich tributes to the services of the deceased and offered Fateha for the departed soul. Shahbaz Sharif also visited the residence of MNA Arshad Khan Leghari at Rahimabad, Sadiqabad and condoled the death of his brother. He also offered Fateha for the departed soul.
