The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Punjab has criticised the government for its "dictatorial attitude" towards opponents, saying, "It needs to learn about democratic norms. The criticism came from Insaf Organiser Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar who also demanded the army call-up for the rest of Local Government elections in the backdrop of the recent wave of violence.
The politician talking to various delegations visiting him on Tuesday in his office said he was hopeful of the party victory. He said, "If you cannot make the public happy, at least don't make it worse," he advised the government. Party workers are being targeted and killed under a planned effort by the governing party's goons and the brutalities political activists are facing in this so-called democratic government are worse than those of dictators." He also advised the governing party to show restraint in using violence. He claimed the Punjab government was spending substantial funds on advertisements and yet it had failed to offer adequate basic facilities. Deputy Punjab Organiser Omar Sarfaraz Cheema was also present.
