The 7th Joint Dialogue of business persons represented by Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF) and Japan Pakistan Business Co-ordinating Committee (JPBCC) is being held in Islamabad on 10 November 2015 in conjunction with 5thG2G/B dialogue the same day.
Of the previous 6 such Dialogues 3 have been held in Pakistanand 3 in Japan. The first dialogue was held in 2001, soon after the formation of PJBF with sponsorship of Mr Sadaaki Numata, then Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan who was a very dynamic person and a good friend of Pakistan. We welcome the opportunity to host the JD together with Ministry of Commerce, and expect that the discussions will be substantive and meaningful, with conclusions and a monitoring system to track progress on implementation. The business side is being led by the Chairman of Marubeni, Mr Teruo Asada and the government side by Mr Tsuneo Kitamura, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Japan is an economic giant and a friendly one too. She continues to provide us fiscal and technical assistance without much fanfare. However our business has been receding and is a matter of concern. This needs to be addressed; thus this dialogue is being held timely. We will endeavour to make the visit of our friends from Japan enjoyable and useful. This Dialogue can be a harbinger of greater and faster changes in Pakistan and Japan's relationship, which already is multidimensional and well established.
