Chairman, Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), Siddiqul Farooque on Friday gave 30 days ultimatum to the land mafia to surrender 3910 acres property of ETPB in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur regions. Addressing to a press conference at Karachi Press Club (KPC), he said that the property of the ETPB had been under the control of powerful land mafia for ten years. He said that owing to the illegal possession by the mafia ETPB had been deprived of 40 to 60 crores income.
Farooque said that if land mafia do not retreat from the land then the board will take legal action against it, adding that the board had also sent some cases to National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He pointed out that the board, according to the law, again and again endeavoured to auction the aforesaid property but powerful land mafia neither took part in the auction nor let others gave space to be a part of the same.
He further said that he had written a letter to Sindh Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, for their cooperation in getting back the possessed board's land. He hoped that they would play their part in vacating the property. He had also requested Sindh CM for acquiring 100 canal area of land for constructing a college of ETPB.
