The National Assembly on Monday offered "Fateha" for the departed soul of late Member National Assembly and Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) President Makhdoom Amin Fahim and paid tribute to his services in promoting democracy in the country. State Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Pir Amin-ul-Hasnat offered Fateha on the request of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
All political parties paid tribute to Amin Fahim for his struggles in the restoration of democracy in the country and loyalty with his party. Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that Makhdoom Amin Fahim was a political institution and he remained firm in his democratic stance during the four martial laws imposed in the country.
He said that Fahim even did not accept the premiership offered by the then President General Pervez Musharraf and stood firm and loyal with his party. Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq while expressing his grief and sorrow said his (Amin Fahim) death was a great loss to the national assembly and politics. He said the country has been deprived of an active, seasoned and sobre politician. Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch, Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Sahabzada Tariq Ullah and other also expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Fahim and paid tribute to his services for democracy.
