Reiterating that the ongoing Karachi operation will continue till the elimination of the last terrorist and target killer, Director General Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, Major General Bilal Akber on Thursday urged the citizens to come out of their homes on December 5 to exercise their right of franchise in the local government elections without any fear.
Claiming to have made foolproof security arrangements for the December 5 local government polls, he asked the citizens to cast their votes without any fear. He was talking to media persons while reviewing arrangements for main procession of Imam Hussain's (R.A) Chehlum on M.A Jinnah Road. The city police chief Additional Inspector General, Mushataq Meher, was also present on this occasion.
He said that the city's law and order has been improved considerably in the wake of sincere efforts being made by the Rangers and police personnel for the maintenance of peace and stability in the metropolis. Replying to a question, he said "investigation into the case pertaining to killing of military police (MP) personnel has been initiated and some progress has been made in this connection."
Terming the attack on military police personnel as `an act of cowardice', he said that the attack was aimed at creating a wrong impression that the Rangers-led Karachi operation was not being effective. "Such heinous crimes will not deter the Rangers' resolve of bringing terrorists and criminals to justice," he added. Sindh Rangers have already announced a reward of Rs 2.5 million for those who will come forward as witness and name the culprits involved in the gruesome murder of the MP personnel. Bilal Akbar said that sacrifices of Rangers, police and civilians would not go in vain as the peace in the city would surely prevail.
