Chairman Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) Dr Asif A. Brohi Thursday said that the Sindh Government was looking forward to enhance bilateral trade between Pakistan and Belarus. This he said while talking to Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Ermolovish at SBI Office here said a statement here. He said that the Sindh Government had signed a MoU with Gomel region for production of tractors and wanted to increase the foreign investment in other related industries in Province.
The Sindh Government wanted investors from Belarus to invest in agriculture, livestock, alternate energy and other sectors, he added. On the occasion Andrei Ermolovish informed that Belarus investors would like to establish a plant for production of 150 Horse power tractors in Karachi and also like to invest in other sectors in Sindh.
He also informed that National Bank of Belarus and Belarus Bank were also planning to open their branches in the province adding that talks were going in this regard on at the highest level of both countries. Earlier, Director General, SBI, Iftikhar Ali Shallwani gave a detailed presentation on all the projects and facilities providing by SBI to the investors. He elaborated that under Special Economic Zone Act, investors would enjoy 10 years tax holiday and one time exemption of duties on importing machineries. He further said that there were number of sectors in Sindh where huge potentials and prospects of investment were available. He informed that the Sindh Government was also providing additional facilities to investors under Public Private Partnership Act. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani also informed Andrei Ermolovish that Sindh Board of Investment would organise International Business Round off Negotiations from 14-16 March 2016 in Karachi.
He extends an invitation to the Belarusian investor to participate in the event. Honorary Consul General of Belarus in Karachi, Abdul Rauf Tabani was also present in the meeting.
