Minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has said the government has nothing to do with the Dr Imran Farooq murder case and that the State is party to the case. He warned that federal government would recall Rangers from Karachi if requisition was not sent by the Sindh government. Addressing a news conference here on Sunday, he said the government is not a party to any case; rather it is the State which is a party to the case.
The Minister added the government has given approval for registration of an FIR in the Dr Imran Farooq murder case in the light of investigations carried out by a Joint Investigation Team (JIT). Nisar continued that the timing of lodging an FIR was also decided by the JIT. He said the case would be further investigated before moving the court. Interior Minister said that no one had raised any objection about the trial of the Mumbai case in Pakistan. The Minister further stated that he had not examined the report of JIT and it would be presented in the court.
Later, taking to media, he said that Rangers were working in Karachi without any legal protection after the expiry of their approval by the provincial government. The Minister warned that the federal government would call them back if a requisition was not sent by the Sindh government. He also stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would take up the issue of rangers during his today (Monday) visit to Karachi to review law and order situation
Nisar categorically dismissed reports about a US delegation meeting with the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during their latest stay in London as baseless. "All such rumours in media are baseless as neither any US delegation met with Prime Minister or Chief Minister nor did any discussion take place on the California incident. He said that there seemed to be some "objective" behind such reports; "otherwise it is no secret that any intelligence information sharing is done by ministry of interior affairs and external affairs". He said information about the California shooting suspect Tashfeen Malik would be shared as per the international law.
Nisar also disclosed that Tashfeen Malik, belonged to Dera Ghazi Khan and the family had moved to Saudi Arabia some 20 to 25 years ago. He added that Tashfeen Malik had been visiting Pakistan. She got her education from here but was resident in Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, she got married in Saudi Arabia and went from there to the United States.
The Interior Minister stated that nation, country or religion cannot be blamed for an individual's act. He said the Californian incident must be condemned in strongest possible words and deplored that a Pakistani woman's name was involved as a suspect in the tragedy. The minister reiterated that Pakistan would not admit any deportee without proper verification. He said a crackdown against human traffickers continued and hundreds had been arrested during the last three to four weeks.
