Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting at Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters on Friday to review the efforts for achieving the revenue collection target for the 2nd quarter of the current fiscal year as well as other related matters.
The Finance Minister expressed satisfaction on the revenue collection during the months of October-November 2015-16 and emphasised significance of maintaining the revenue growth during the current month and beyond. He directed the senior officials of the FBR to make all out efforts to meet the revenue collection targets set for the fiscal year. The finance minister was briefed on the progress of negotiations with the trading community on the issue of the WHT. The minister said the government valued the traders' community and their contribution towards the national economy. He directed the FBR authorities to finalise the matters relating to the traders in the shortest possible time.
He said that traders are patriotic citizens and are willing to contribute towards national welfare by meeting their tax obligations which could be translated into a positive impact on the efforts of the FBR towards revenue generation and broadening of tax base.
The chairman FBR also briefed the minister on the on-going reforms initiated in various areas within the board. The minister emphasised that the continuity of the reforms process was essential to develop the FBR into a robust organisation, with the ability to mobilise resources necessary for the development of the country. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Reveneu, Haroon Akhtar Khan, Chairman FBR and senior officials of the FBR attended the meeting.-PR
