Maulana Qari Mohammad Hanif Jalandhery of Wafaqul Madris has said that after 9/11 Islam and religious seminaries are being targeted under a conspiracy. He expressed these views while addressing Tahafuz-e-Madaris and Paigham-e-Amn in Wadudia Hall, Saidu Sharif, Swat on Sunday. A large numbers of Ulema from Malakand Division and Bajaur Agency besides general public attended the seminar.
Those who addressed were Mufti Pakistan Mohammad Rafi Usmani, Maulana Saeed Yousaf Kashmiri (Kashmir), Maulana Qazi Abdurashid (Punjab), religious scholar Dr Qabla Ayaz, JUI-F KP chief Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, Maulana Hussain Ahmad, D.I.G Malakand Division, Azad Khan and Maulana Saddiq Ahmad.
Maulana Jalandhery said that Pakistan had 30000 religious seminaries where more than 0.3 million boys and girls ware getting Islamic education. He said that sectarianism and terrorism badly damaged Islam. "For the sake of peace they are ready for signing peace agreements, but the government will have to review its policies and will have to remove misconception about seminaries," he added.
He said that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah himself acknowledged the role of Ulema in Pakistan movement.
