In order to increase wildlife in Lahore Zoo and Lahore Safari Zoo Park for providing maximum recreational facilities to the people, Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has set up a 12-member committee, which will soon submit its report after considering all matters. Provincial Minister for Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan will be the convenor of the committee while Minister for Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran will be its co-convenor.
Its members will include Member National Assembly Afzal Khokhar, Member Provincial Assembly Saira Iftikhar, Secretary Forests, Wildlife & Fisheries Captain Jehanzeb Khan (R), Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Vice Chancellor University of Animal Sciences, Director General Wildlife Khalid Ayaz Khan, Chief Game Warden Punjab Shah Rukh Butt, Managing Director Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab, Director Lahore Zoo besides a zoo management expert. The committee will also consider public-private partnership for the development of wildlife parks and zoos. The committee will meet on December 22, 2015.
