Opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah Saturday said "invasion of Sindh" is not a good omen for Nawaz Sharif's government, referring to notification that granted extension in Rangers' policing powers in the province. Talking to media here, the opposition leader said that such steps would create problems for the federal government, adding that he would hold meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on the issue.
His statement came a day after interior ministry issued a notification granting extension in Rangers' special powers in Karachi, where paramilitary troops are conducting operation against criminal elements after all parties' conference resolved to root out all kinds of crimes from the country's business hub. The notification was issued just before the scheduled prime minister's visit to Karachi, Shah lamented. Welcoming Indian PM Narendra Modi's surprise visit to Pakistan, the opposition leader said that it would have been better if Modi was on a scheduled visit.
