The 12th Meeting of the Senate of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro held, here on Tuesday. Delivering an annual report for the year 2014-2015, Vice Chancellor LUMHS Professor Noshad A Shaikh said that the year had been an extra ordinary vibrant period as the university witnessed a dramatic progress in all fields including medical education, research and academics.
The Vice Chancellor said that four meetings of Syndicate were held in the year and important proposals were approved which included establishment of Bilawal Medical College, College of Pharmacy, Department of Neurology, implementation of CME/CDE points and credit hours system, approval of curriculum of M Sc Nursing and approval of establishment of Institute of Community Health Sciences. These proposals were recommended by the Academic Council, of which three meetings were convened during the year. He added that the Advance Study Board of the university has approved 24 evaluation reports of the examiners of various Degree Programs where as approval of registration of 92 post graduate students was granted.
Regarding the Finance and Planning Committee, it was informed that allocation of funds were recommended for Bilawal Medical College, Security Wall around the campus, Up Gradation of Dental OPD at LUH City branch and establishment of FM radio. Professor Noshad Shaikh further said that the 95% construction work of boundary wall around the whole campus has been completed while the team from Pakistan Medical & Dental Council is expected to visit the Bilawal Medical College for grant of approval, in the first week of January 2016. The College has already been established and the first batch shall be admitted after the approval from PM&DC. It was also informed that One Girls Hostel with 120 rooms has been established while construction work of another one with 200 rooms is near completion. The director finance presented the financial statement for the year 2014-2015 and budget estimates for the year 2015-2016 which was approved by the members of the Senate.
