"A troublesome CII carried by Business Recorder on Sunday. This is one of the best moments on the scuffle that took place between the two Ulema at a recent meeting of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CCI). The editorial has argued that "the Council was set up under the Constitution, due to a political consideration to pacify religious parties seen as troublesome by the then political leadership.
Even so, its role was only to offer advice when sought. It was not expected to come up with its own agendas, and create unnecessary controversies. The present episode on the basis of political considerations rather than religious scholarship, can only create problems than help solve any." The situation has, therefore, posed a serious question to the existence of this forum. Those who are part of this august council must take steps aimed at preserving and protecting its reputation.
