Birth anniversary: speakers pay rich tributes to Hakim Said

Speakers while paying rich tributes to Hakim Said at Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said Memorial Lecture said that service to the nation and humanity was the sole purpose of Hakim Said's life as he had served the ailing people for more than 50 years till his last breath. The lecture was held on Friday on the occasion of 96th birthday of Hakim Said (January 09), Children Day in Pakistan, on the theme: "Service to humanity cannot be performed perfectly without self negation," organised by Idara-i-Said and Hamdard Foundation Pakistan at Al-Muid Hall, Madinat al-Hikmah, Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief speaker and renowned columnist and anchor person, Jawed Chowdhry said Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said dedicated his whole hard earned earnings of his life to the welfare of the people. Hakim Said was a very simple man as he used to sleep on floor, he added.
"It does not matter if one has hundred thousands rupees and donate in charity one thousand rupees, but it does matter if one has one thousand rupees and he gives whole money in charity and that's called the great service to humanity by negating one's own needs, this is the principle always followed by Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said," he said.
Highlighting the types of charity he said, to provide facilities of any sorts to others and to remove their difficulties - big and small is also a charity and it is not necessary to give money in charity one can do charity by providing physical services to others. Replying to a question that how could we able to channelize the work and mission of Hakim Said, he said if every one of us would spare one hour from our time for Hakim Said we would be able to do so.
Earlier Syed Mohammed Yaqoob, Deputy Director, Idara-i-Said introduced Jawed Chowdhry to the audience and Hakim Mohammed Usman gave introduction of Hamdard Naunehal Assembly, a children's forum, founded by Hakim Said. Child speakers Naseema Habib, Amna Sajid, Frazul Hasan Jehangiri and Hafiza Urooba Fatima also spoke and paid great tribute to Hakim Said.
Professor Dr Hakim Abdul Hannan offered vote of thanks. Besides, Dr Navaid ul Zafar, Managing Director, Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf), Mutawallia Hamdard, Dr Maham Munir Ahmed, Fatema Munir Ahmed, former Justice Haziqul Khairi, teachers and students attended the lecture in a large number.
