The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has decided to introduce the global unique identification code system for eradicating the sale of spurious drugs.
The proposed bar code rules had been shared with the stakeholders including Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), Pharma Bureau and Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association (PCDA) for their inputs and suggestions, said an official of ministry of health while talking to APP.
A joint meeting was held on November 11, 2015 with stakeholders and the amendments for Bar Code implementation were now being finalised.
To a question, he said, that Action Plan 2014 for Polio Eradication (NEAP) was being implemented nation-wide with the approval of the Prime Minister.
To facilitate the implementation, the ECNEC has recently approved a PC-I worth approximately Rs 33 billion thereby providing required resources to end the indigenous Polio transmission.
In line with the National Emergency Action Plan (NEAP), a vigorous joint operational and communicational plan has been finalized for the upcoming low transmission season.
To a question, he said that civil-military co-ordination mechanism has been established to access all children in FATA.
Through the same mechanism, so far a total of 7 special Supplementary Immunisation Activities (SIAs) had been conducted in Bara Tehsil of Khyber agency with the support from the UAE government.
Since the launch of operation Zarb-e-Azb in May 2014, a total of 115,299 children exodus of North Waziristan have been vaccinated for Polio through SIAs.
For the foolproof protection of Polio teams, operational guidelines on the security had been issued to all provinces and areas. A security plan also has been made essential component of UC level micro-planning.
A plan to use Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) Peshawar, Quetta and Karachi has been finalised to quickly boost the immunity of vulnerable children in the area.
A robust network for advocacy with parliamentarians and religious scholars has been established, eminent ulema of various sects had issued Fatwas in support of Polio eradication campaign.
