The tannery zone at Korangi Industrial Area, Sector 7A, will soon have a proper solid waste management system in order to clear all the dumps and hazardous waste from the area. This was announced by Managing Director, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, Roshan Ali Shaikh, during a meeting at Pakistan Tanners Association (S.Z) on Friday. The meeting was attended by PTA Chairman Rehan Hannan, PTA Chairman (Central) Gulzar Firoz and other office-bearers and senior government officials.
Shaikh said that the representatives from the industrial sector would also be taken as member of the board. Hannan gave a detailed briefing to the Managing Director about the importance of Sector 7A being the largest national cluster of Pakistan. Gulzar Firoz briefed about the only effluent treatment plant installed in Korangi. Shaikh briefed the house about the ongoing and upcoming projects in Karachi related to solid waste and its disposal. Later, Gulzar Firoz along with the MD visited the effluent treatment plant.
