Notorious gangster involved in Lyari's gang-war was awarded collective 33-year imprisonment with Rs 125,000 fine. An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) convicted the gangster Sikandar Lasi on Friday. Police arrested Lasi after an encounter in Rehmani Chowk on 20th November 2013. The police also seized explosive material and illegal weapon from his possession.
The ATC judge found Lasi guilty of attacking a police party with intention to kill, carrying explosive material and weapon without license. After recording witnesses' statements and hearing arguments from both sides, the court observed on the basis of evidence that charges against the accused proved without any shadow of doubt.
The ATC judge awarded him seven-year imprisonment in illicit weapon case and 14-year imprisonment for possessing explosives material. The Lyari gangster was handed two-year sentence for attacking the police and 10-years for attempting to murder them. However, all the convictions would run simultaneously.
