Pakistan People's Party Central Leader, Senator Farhatullah Babar demanded the government to conduct a judicial inquiry into the terrorists attack on the Bacha Khan University and Army Public School, and to make public its report.
"Terrorism is posing great threat to integrity and solidarity of the country. Government should take proactive steps for complete eradication of the menace. Action needed to be taken against those claiming responsibility of these attacks," Babar said while talking to media persons at residence of PPP provincial president, Khanzada Khan in district Mardan on Saturday.
He said it was quite ironical that the Federal Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Khan didn't react over the terrorists attack on the varsity, despite his position as co-ordinator of war against terrorism. Babar, who is also spokesman of former president and co-chairman of PPP, said the government had completely failed to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) in its letter and spirit across the country.
He maintained the proscribed organisations were freely carrying out their activities on diverse names, but no action was taken action them, which totally against the law. He said it was mandatory to hold meeting of National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) after three months, but the authority's meeting hadn't conducted despite passage of one year.
PPP leader blamed the government and interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar for their failure to make proper functional and strengthening of the Nacta. He added that the minister had informed the national assembly that no case was registered against the cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz, but later FIR lodged against him (Aziz) on December 19, 2012 and Station House Officer of Abpara Police Station, Islamabad registered case against Maulana Aziz in October, 2014 that meant government reluctant to take action against proscribed organisations.
Talking about Tajikistan Afghanistan Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, he called upon the government to also give attention towards Iran Pakistan Gas pipeline, following lifting of global sanctions on Iran. He stressed that it is right time to accelerate project on priority basis.
Regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), PPP leader blamed the Ministry of Planning Commission was making the national level project controversial due to ignoring share of smaller federating units in the multi-billion dollars project. He asked the project should be run through Council of Common Interest, instead of the Ministry of Planning Commission.
Under the CPEC, he explained the government has allocated Rs 80 billion as compared to Rs 20 billion, to be spent on Western route, which was made the national project controversial. He expressed concern over spiralling prices of oil petroleum commodities despite the downward trend in prices at global market. Regarding the peace in Afghanistan and rest of the region, he asked the government to revisit its foreign policy. Earlier, he offered Fateha for departed soul of martyred in the terrorists attack on Bacha Khan University.
