The Indian High Commissioner (designate) to Pakistan Gautam Bambawale hosted a reception to celebrate the 67th Republic Day of India here on Tuesday. The event kicked off with national anthem of the two countries as scores of politicians, parliamentarians, diplomats and artists attended the reception.
Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Mian Riaz Hussain represented the government of Pakistan while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan who was also among the participants remained the focus of attention especially for the youth from both the countries, who remained busy taking selfies and photographs. Leader of the opposition in Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, former interior minister Senator Rehman Malik of Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Haji Adeel of Awami National Party (ANP) and Rehan Hashmi of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were among the participants. The newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Gautam Bambawale arrived in Islamabad on January 12, 2016 who will present his credential to President Mamnoon Hussain in couple of days.
