A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Thursday met at the Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Muhammad Jamaluddin. Officials of Ministry of Finance briefed the committee on the status of Rs 100 billion package announced by the Federal Minister for Finance Revenue, Economic, Statistics and Privatisation for rehabilitation of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of FATA during budget speech for 2015-16.
Officials informed the meeting that the federal government has allocated funds of Rs 55 billion for rehabilitation of TDPs of FATA and Rs 45 billion for security enhancement. The committee also discussed the issue of rehabilitation of TDPs and showed great concern over the slow pace of work and urged the quarters concerned to expedite the rehabilitation process in FATA.
