The city commissioner has talked up the Commissioner School Cricket Championship Series 2016, saying it will play an important role for the survival of school cricket in Lahore and revival of cricket nurseries for national cricket. Monday's meeting Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal himself chaired decided that the opening ceremony would take place on February 6 at the Bagh-e-Jinnah Gymkhana Cricket Ground to host all 16 teams with their coaches and managers.
Former world cricketers are expected to be present too. The series will start on February 8 with a final match to be played on February 21 at the Qadhafi Stadium in Lahore. The Commissioner also said each team would receive a kit bag and that a trophy would also be shown in the opening ceremony.
