Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here on Sunday which was also attended by Federal Minister for Water &Power Kh. Muhammad Asif. The meeting reviewed the pace of progress on energy projects in the province. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that government was paying attention to the projects of generation of low cost energy; work on gas-based power plants of 3600 megawatts electricity was continuing speedily in Punjab and steps were being taken in the right direction to overcome energy shortage.
He said besides traditional methods the government is also working on generation of power through renewable sources, more than 50 percent construction work has been completed on 1320 megawatts coal power plant in Sahiwal. He said that present government, has made unprecedented efforts for energy projects. Rs 112 billion of the nation have been saved in three gas power plants in Punjab by setting a splendid example of transparency, thousands of megawatts electricity will be added to the national grid by the end of 2017 through the completion of power projects. Federal Secretary Water and Power, Chairman Punjab Power Development Company, Secretary Energy, CEO National Power Parks Management Company and CEO Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Pvt Ltd Company attended the meeting.
