The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has announced the beginning of its garment-sector-related short courses with Turkish Organisation TiKa at the Government Institute of Emerging Technology in Township in Lahore. Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said on Thursday, "The international level training will be beneficial for the youth to get better job opportunities in the national and international market.
The Faisalabad Garment City is a positive and meaningful step to address the issues of unemployment. The Tevta and the Faisalabad Garment City will collaborate in providing much needed technical and vocational skills to the unemployed youth." In his address at a meeting which also saw the presence of Faisalabad Garment City Chairman Rehan Naseem Bharara at the former's secretariat, he said, "The Tevta has successfully started an industry-demand-driven short course for the youth of the Punjab. We have successfully completed the first and second phases. The third phase is starting on February 22 in which 46 demand-driven short courses are being offered to train another badge of 20,000 trainees. We will also collaborate with the Faisalabad Garment City to start the courses as per their requirement.
