The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) claims to have collected more than Rs 31 billion during the first seven months of the current financial year. The claim came at a meeting at the headquarters on Friday which also reviewed performance of enforcement officers. Those also taking part were commissionerates who had come from Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan.
Authority Chairman Raheal Ahmed Siddiqui told officers to try to collect due taxes and also stressed that the chief minister in a recent meeting had given his backing to his authority's efforts and the finance minister and the chief secretary had also praised them.
"With the recent passage of the Punjab Revenue Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Bill No 51 of 2015), our legal problems were behind it," he added. He also stressed that as the premier tax collection agency of the province with an overall collection of Rs 31.66 billion for the first seven months of the current financial year till 31 January, his authority's contribution in the development of the Punjab could never be discounted.
