Parvez Ghias, CEO, Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC), has urged the government to announce long term auto policy for sustainable growth in auto sector. Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of 11th Cholistan Jeep Rally (CJR) held on February 13-14, Ghias along with Ali Asghar Jamali Chief Operating Officer (CCO), IMC, Raheel Ashgar senior General Manager, Marketing and Sales Division and others said that auto policy, which had been delaying for last three years, must be announced on long term basis. He said that upcoming auto policy should not only facilitate new entrants but would also help existing players.
Meanwhile, Jamali said that IMC, which was the co-sponsor of CJR, was considering launching its own branded rally on bigger scale. "Although it is premature to say anything, the deliberation for launching our own branded rally in coming years is underway".
He said that it was the right time to support 11th CJR as IMC had started manufacturing designated vehicles - VIGO in 2010 and Fortuner in 2013, adding that IMC was also taking interest to promote motor sports in Pakistan hence the participation in CJR for IMC was significant. Jamali further said that they had launched 'VIGO- GX Plus' in last November and Fortuner TRD-5 in January for motor-sports enthusiasts. Replying to a question, he said, "Such events will not have any direct impact on company's sales but it will help getting confidence on locally manufactured SUVs for off-road races." Moreover, he said that Fortuner's sales after serious dip to 30 vehicles per month had now gained momentum and now we were selling 50 to 60 Fortuner per month as against the target of 100 Fortuner.
