This is apropos "Jamaat 'most democratic party': Pildat" carried by Business Recorder on Tuesday. According to Pildat's survey, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as "least democratic" party for the second consecutive year in a systematic evaluation of intra-party democracy in the country in which Jamaat-e-Islamic (JI) is ranked as the most democratic party.
Pildat, in its report on "Internal Democracy of Major Political Parties of Pakistan 2015" has concluded that the selected eight political parties received an overall score of 40 out of 100, which indicates a drop from the overall score of 43 in 2014, which shows that the state of international democracy of political parties further deteriorated in 2015.
That Jamaat-e-Islami has emerged as the most democratic party in Pakistan is a sardonic comment on parties such as PML-N and PPP. The internal democratic mechanism of these two and some other parties is characterised by the true definition of a dynasty: a succession of rulers who are members of the same family.
