The Punjab Agriculture Minister, Dr Farrukh Javed has directed the Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) and the Provincial Agriculture Department to jointly organise seminars in all the districts to educate the growers on usage of quality certified seeds for enhancing yield of their different crops. He also urged the PSC to take all the measure for ensuring provision of high quality certified seeds to farmers of the province.
He said sacrifices rendered by growers for development of agricultural sector of the country could not be ignored and the government would not allow economic murder of this community. Dr Farrukh was speaking to the media after 106th Board meeting of the Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) here on Thursday. The Minister on the recommendation of the Board restored the medical allowance for the retired employees which was frozen some eight years back. He also announced to give two uniforms each for summer and winter seasons on permanent basis.
Replying to a query, the Agriculture Minister urged the employees to work with honesty and dedication and assured that they would get incentives till he is in office. Nevertheless, he warned that employee involved in corruption would not be spared. He said the government is proud of hard work of the farmers and it would be ensured that they get proper compensation of their work. He said farmers are the backbone in economic development of the country and growing food for the national population, hence the government would not leave them to face financial hardships. The Minister also praised the performance of the Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) saying that it was the only profitable institute producing high quality seed.
