Ministry of Defence has demanded Rs 21.16 billion for Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for fiscal year 2016-17. Headed by Shaikh Rohail Asghar, the committee scrutinised the budgetary proposals of the Ministry for the PSDP for the Financial Year 2016-17, as required under rule 201(6) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.
The officials of Ministry of Defence informed the committee that the estimated cost of seven on-going development projects of Ministry of Defence is around Rs 21 billion. The government released Rs 7 billion on these on-going projects. The officials of Ministry said that Rs 4.69 billion has been proposed for the development projects of Defence Division. Rs 58 million has been proposed to make the Pakistan Airforce base at Jacobabad safe as flight operations of F-16s are being affected due to flooding at the airbase. For the construction of Survey of Pakistan Lahore's building, an amount of Rs 200 million has been proposed. The committee members lodged protest against the officials of Ministry of Defence for not sending the agenda of meeting in time.
