National Assembly's Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat has expressed serious concern over unnecessary delay in the issue of teachers/staff on daily wages and directed Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD) to resolve it as soon as possible.
The Committee met with Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan in the chair at Parliament House on Wednesday. The Committee also discussed "The Compulsory Education of Arabic Bill, 2015, The Disable Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) (Amendment) Bill, 2015 and The National Commission for Minority Education Bill, 2015
MNAs Malik Ibrar Ahmad, Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Parveen Masood Bhatti, Mrs. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Farhana Qamar, Dr Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Asad Umar, Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Moulvi Agha Muhammad, Syed Ali Raza Abidi, Naeema Kishwer Khan (mover), Sahibzada Tariq Ullah (mover) and Romina Khurshid Alam (mover) were present in the meeting.
Some teachers were also present in the Committee, who raised their concerns and said that the Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division had made commitment in previous meeting of the Committee that the teachers should end their strike and their issue would be resolved within one month. But the issue is still pending, they said.
Asad Umar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also supported the views of the teachers and said that the Minister had promised that the issue of teachers of public school of Islamabad would be resolved.
Secretary CA&DD Hassan Iqbal told the Committee that only four days ago he got the charge of the Division and he would look into the matter and resolve it immediately.
The Committee deferred "The Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Bill, 2014" moved by Marvi Memon MNA till its next meeting for further discussion.
The Committee discussed "The Compulsory Education of Arabic Bill, 2015" moved by Naeema Kishwer Khan. The Committee directed that CA&DD may send the said bill to National Curriculum Council for expert opinion and report to the Committee within two months of the meeting.
The Committee considered "The National Commission for Minority Education Bill, 2015 moved by Romina Khurshid Alam MNA in detail and directed that CA&DD may submit report to the Committee within two months of the meeting.
The Committee discussed "The Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) (Amendment) Bill, 2015 moved by Sahibzada Tariq Ullah MNA in detail. The Committee informed that the said bill has been referred to Law Division for legal opinion. Therefore, the Committee directed that CA&DD may examine the other bills of identical nature which are under consideration by the Committee as well and come up with the proposals in the next meeting scheduled for 9th March, 2016 so that Committee could consider them accordingly.
