Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE), Mohammad Atif Khan has said for collecting real statistics regarding out of school children, the provincial government has planned to conduct a door-to-door survey, so no child remained deprived of education.
Presiding over a meeting regarding standardisation of the public sector schools in Peshawar, he said that according to new policy only primary and secondary schools will be constructed in the province. The primary schools will be up to grade six while secondary schools will be up to intermediate level.
Besides, Secretary E&SE, Afzal Latif, Additional Secretary, Qaiser Alam and authorities of other concerned departments attended the meeting. The meeting was briefed in detail regarding the proposed design and colour of the new primary and secondary schools.
The meeting was told that keeping in view weather separate designs are proposed for urban and rural areas. The minister directed for keeping all requirements of children and teachers into consideration in the new designs of schools.
The provincial minister said that under the proposed plan every new primary school will be comprised of six rooms, six teachers, play area, principal office, staff room while secondary school will be consisted of 11 rooms, four laboratories, one library, multipurpose hall, principal office and staff room.
Besides, guaranteeing all basic facilities to children of each school, the recruitment of teachers will also be not transferable. The purpose of the step is to get rid of the unending practice of the repeated transfers and up-gradation of schools on permanent basis.
The provincial minister said that unlike past no school will be constructed without formal survey and planning to prevent the wastage of public exchequer. He said that public schools will be made exemplary from all aspects.
