Pakistan's pulses import shot up by 56 percent to $349.840 million in July-January 2015-16, official figures show. Pulses import bill rise stands at $125.608 million in July-January 2015-16 from $224.232 million in July-January 2014-15, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics says.
In term of volume, pulses import surged by 55 percent or 201, 502 metric tons to 569,157 metric tons in July-January 2015-16 from 367,655 metric tons in January-July 2014-15.
In January 2016, pulses import mounted by 119 percent or $43.982 million to $81.010 million from $37.028 million in January 2015. Volume of pulses import grew by 95 percent or 59, 303 metric tons to 121,850 metric tons in January 2016 from 62,547 metric tons in January 2015.
