President of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief over the loss of more than two dozen precious lives, injuries to scores of others in torrential rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In a statement issued on Sunday, Asif Zardari called for stepping up rescue and relief operation by all concerned agencies of the State and also directed the PPP officials to set up emergency camps to provide relief to the affected people particularly women, children and the elderly persons.
He also called upon senior PPP leaders to visit the affected areas and commiserate with the victims in this hour of distress. Zardari also offered condolences to the bereaved families over the death of their near and dear ones and sufferings including material losses. He also prayed for early recovery of those injured.
He also called for a national strategy to warn and evacuate people in affected areas and to mitigate the effects of natural disasters.
"As a nation we must devise a strategy for mitigating the effects of natural disasters that are likely to increase both in intensity and frequency due to climate change and global warming," he proposed.
