This is apropos Business Recorder editorial "Political point scoring" carried by it yesterday. The newspaper has concluded: "Perhaps, the PPP was better placed to seek trial of Musharraf in both the cases than the PML (N) which filed the treason case against him. That he will not come back is an argument that is countered by a 'why not' question. Were he afraid of treason case or other cases he would have acted differently and not invariably airing the view that all the cases against him were malicious and fabricated. We must accept that as a former army chief his conviction in any of these charges is next to impossible, and more so when he enjoys considerable support among his khaki tribe and the general public."
That the newspaper has offered a highly objective explanation to the situation is a fact. The PPP's protests against Musharraf's departure from the country are nothing but a crude admission of its failure to take action against a former army chief after winning the 2008 elections and coming to power. It's no use crying over spilt milk.
