International community has recognised Pakistan's efforts in elimination of terrorism for bringing back peace in the region as well as the world, said Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage. The Minister on Monday inaugurated a photographic exhibition on Pakistan Movement along with paintings and sketches displaying the culture, society, people and landscape of the country.
During the ceremony, he said that any government following democratic approach followed rules of law and if judiciary ordered to bring former president Pervez Musharraf back to the country through Interpol, the government would respect the decision. He said if anyone avoided appearing before the court, he would be treated according to the law.
"Pervez Musharraf has been summoned by the Special Court on March 31 and obviously the law will take its course if he does not appear," he said. Pervaiz Rashid said an elected Prime Minister was arrested illegally on October 12, 1999 and the people of the country were not informed till 40 days about whereabouts of their Premier.
Replying to a question, he said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan was impressed with Musharraf as Musharraf showed his support for him to be the Prime Minister. Rejecting an allegation regarding another National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), he said the PTI should discuss the issue in Parliament. He said all Pakistanis were enjoying equal rights and there was no discrimination in the country on the basis of gender, race or language. He appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and the people in war on terror.
