Director General (DG) Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major-General Bilal Akbar Tuesday took notice of life threats to Waseem Akhtar, the MQM's contestant for Mayor of Karachi. In a statement issued here, the DG Rangers asked Mr Akhtar to apprise him of the details about threats he was receiving. The statement came a few hours after Waseem Akhtar revealed that he received threatening phone calls to end cleanliness drive in Karachi.
The DG Rangers said foolproof security would be ensured to MQM's official, asking him to keep confidence in law enforcement agencies. Major General Akbar said the Rangers would ensure the security of each citizen of Karachi.
