The 2016-17 elections of the Lahore Tax Bar Association are taking place today (Friday) which could witness a tough contest between the Zia Rizvi Group and the Democratic Group. As many as 3,000 tax law practitioners are expected to use their right to vote.
The polling timing is set between 9am and 5pm. From the Zia Rizvi's Group, Aamir Qadeer is contesting for the presidency while Sufian Umer for the seat of vice presidency, Tayyab Warriach for general secretary; Wali Muhammad Mayo for finance secretary and Atif Anwer Pasreeja for joint secretary. Candidate Qadeer's counterpart is the Democratic Group's Farhan Shahzad and those competing for the rest of the spots are Anwar Ismail, Farooq Majeed, Athar Naveed Kiani and Kashif Wallayat.
