A three-day 13th International Exhibition, called "My Karachi, Oasis of Harmony-2016", will begin here on Friday (March 25) under the aegis of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at the city's Expo Centre. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah is expected to inaugurate the exhibition. The exhibition, a flagship of the KCCI, will continue till March 27.
Organisers of the exhibition hoped that the event that has been arranged to highlight Karachi's soft image will succeed in portraying the city as a peaceful economic, financial and industrial capital of Pakistan to the participating foreign delegates. The KCCI has made elaborate arrangements for interactive business-to-business (B2B) linkages and business-to-consumer relationship (B2C) at the exhibition.
The exhibition will serve as a platform for showcasing domestic, global products and services to small traders, large industries, manufacturers, service providers, multinational companies, financial institutions and social welfare agencies of the country, besides there will be dedicated halls for the international participants, significant brands "Made in Pakistan" as well as for women entrepreneurs.
"It would be a complete exhibition in all aspects," organisers said. Highlighting the importance of the exhibition, KCCI president Younus Muhammad Bashir, recalled that the idea of organising the event was first mooted in 2004 by BMG chairman Siraj Kassam Teli to dispel the negative impression about Karachi. KCCI, he added, has been regularly organising this exhibition without any commercial objective, but with a vision to promote the soft image of Karachi and the tag line of 'Made in Pakistan' world-wide.
Highlighting the salient features of the event, the exhibition's committee chairman Muhammad Idrees said that around 300 stalls set up in six halls of the Expo Center will showcase Pakistani products and services.
Moreover, there will be dedicated pavilions for fabric and designers and food courts, he added. At the outset, the KCCI chief thanked the Sindh governor, Sindh government and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan for extending their cooperation in organising the exhibition.
