Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Aviation, Shujaat Azeem inaugurated PIA's new Research & Development centre on Tuesday. A fully automated Central Reservation Control which is part of this center has also been made functional. This initiative aims at streamlining the system of seat reservation in all PIA flights. Other components of the Center include IT Security and crew's allocation of duties.
Vision of the present government is to facilitate passengers and bring efficiency into the reservation system. Automated Information Management System (AIMS) was purchased in 2004 from Greece for automating crew duty roster but could not be put to use due to vested interest. Now, with the shifting of this set-up to Islamabad transparency and merit would be ensured and manual allocation of duties done away with. -PR
