Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Thursday said the Panama Papers do not mention the Prime Minister rather names of his children have been mentioned. The Prime Minister has explained his position to the nation in a televised address, he said. The Prime Minister has announced setting up of a high level commission which will have comprehensive terms of reference to ensure transparency of its investigations, he said.
About demand of the leader of the opposition regarding forensic audit by a company, the minister said anyone can appear before the commission and produce any evidence.
He clarified that it would be an inquiry commission headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court. He said if someone has any objection on the inquiry commission then he can knock the door of the Supreme Court. He said the opposition had been agitating on several issues during the last three years but no one went to the judiciary as these were mere allegations and had no evidence to present.
He also pointed that funds of a charity organisation were invested in offshore companies and money of zakat was misused. Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the government is ready for accountability about "Panama Leaks". He said that the PML-N had remained successful in maintaining accountability in the past and now it would clear it self from this issue as well. Minister of State Abdul Qadar Baloch said that the opposition should realise the problems of the people and avoid engaging the government in such issues. He said that the government is busy to resolve the problems of the people.
