KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak while underlining the need of promotion of indigenous research has asked for adopting result-oriented local research to make the country progressive and prosperous. He was addressing at Industrial Open House and Career Fair 2016 at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, Swabi on Thursday.
Speaker Provincial Assembly Asad Qaiser, Senior Minister Shahram Tarakai, Advisor to CM Abdul Haq, Special Asisstant Abdul Muneem Khan, MPA Shaukat Youszafi, Engineer Shams-ul-Mulk, President SOPREST and Chairman Board of Governors GIK Institute, Rector, Jehangir Bashar, representatives of national and multinational industrial houses and research organisations and students were present on the occasion. Appreciating the projects presented by the students, the CM said that the industrial open houses were speaking of the potential of the youth.
"It is the outcome of continuous learning across the year", he remarked. The CM while referring to the potential of youth said that the new generation is our future and today the exhibition of project by final year is brighter and safer. He congratulated the students on accomplishing their goals and wished for their brilliant career.
The CM lauded the faculty members and institute management for quality education and training of the students. He underlined the need of promotion of research culture to join the club of the developed nations. The CM while mentioning the steps taken by the provincial government for the promotion of education and especially technical education in the province informed that government had rationalised the distribution of teachers in province.
Similarly, he said that the government had introduced monitoring mechanism in educational institutions to ensure presence of teachers. He added that the provincial government had planned to overcome all deficiencies in public sector schools to bring it to the level of private educational institutions. The CM elaborated that the government had formed TEVTA to regulate technical education while establishment of Air and Technical University in province to produce skilled manpower also planned.
He informed that incentives were being given for encouragement of industrialisation in the province to curb unemployment. He further said that the government was planning to give autonomy to all institutions including education in the province. He informed that Rs 8 billion were being spent on the improvement of higher secondary schools in the province. On this occasion, the CM announced a donation of Rs 1 billion for Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute on behalf of KP government. Engineer Shams-ul-Mulk, President SOPREST and Chairman Board of Governor GIK Institute and Rector Jahangir Bashar also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role of institution in promotion of scientific research and technology.
