The chairman of the Steering Committee on Wildlife has told officers of the Communication and Works Department and contractors to gear up work on the Lahore Safari Zoo Park and complete it by June 20. The orders came from Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, who is also a Member of the National Assembly, as he chaired a meeting at the Lahore Safari Zoo Park on Thursday.
He said that projects on which more than 80 percent work had been done should be completed by April 20 while the other projects by June 20. "Food courts should be completed till May 15 while a play land for children should be completed by October 1 so that more recreational facilities could be provided to children at the Lahore Safari Zoo Park," he said. Wildlife Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan then received a briefing from Veterinary Officer Lahore Safari Zoo Park Muhammad Azhar about deaths of birds from various viral diseases.
The director general also called for the need to adopt advanced precautionary measures in the future. He claimed work on security cameras had started at the park and four security cameras had already been fixed at the main gate. Those also present were Punjab Wildlife and Parks Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan, Lahore Safari Zoo Park Deputy Director Syed Zafar ul Hassan, Lahore Safari Zoo Park Veterinary Officer Muhammad Azhar, the executive engineer, the sub-divisional officer of the Communication and Works Department.
